About Demetrius J. Parrish
Demetrius J. Parrish Jr. built a steady legal path that began in the classroom and moved quickly into public service. He studied mathematics at the United States Naval Academy in 1980 before completing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Southern University in Baton Rouge in 1985. He earned his J.D. from Southern University Law Center in 1989.
He entered the City of Philadelphia Law Department the year he graduated from law school. As an assistant city solicitor he handled municipal legal work and saw the inner workings of local government law. That experience exposed him to regulatory issues and practical problem-solving on the city level.
In 1992 he joined Marshall, Denehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin as an associate. He spent several years in that large-firm setting, where he worked on matters that required coordination among multiple lawyers and clients. The role gave him a different perspective than municipal practice, and it informed how he would run his own office.
In 1996 he opened The Law Office of Demetrius J. Parrish, Jr. He has run the firm since then. The move to private practice allowed him to set priorities for client service and case management. He draws on earlier government and firm experience to advise clients and manage litigation and transactional work across state lines.
