About Deirdre W.

Deirdre W. Edmonds built her legal foundation at the University of South Carolina, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in 1984 and went on to earn a J.D. in 1987 from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Those years set the stage for a career centered on probate, estate and elder-law matters.

She entered private practice immediately after law school, joining Bellamy, Rutenberg, Copeland, Epps, Gravely & Bowers, P.A. in 1987. Over the next decade she developed practical experience in counsel work and courtroom practice. In 1997 she moved to the Kathryn Cook DeAngelo Law Office, LTD, where she continued representing clients on estate-related issues and related civil matters.

Her career took a judicial turn in 2002 when she served as a probate judge in Horry County. That role placed her at the center of local probate administration and decision-making. The position gave her direct exposure to guardianship petitions, estate administrations and the procedural challenges that often arise in elder-law disputes.

After the bench, Edmonds returned to private practice. She established the Law Office of Deirdre W. Edmonds PA and has maintained a practice that draws on both her courtroom experience and her time as a judge. Colleagues and clients point to her background in probate courts as a resource when cases involve estate settlements, will contests, fiduciary disputes and guardianship matters.

Edmonds remains involved in professional organizations that align with her practice areas. She holds membership in the South Carolina State Bar and the Horry County Bar Association, and she is active in the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. She has been affiliated with the South Carolina Probate, Estate Planning and Trust and the Elder Law Committee, and she has held membership in the National College of Probate Judges and the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges. Those connections keep her attuned to changes in state probate procedure and elder-law developments.

Her practice combines courtroom familiarity, administrative experience and hands-on client work. Clients in Horry County and elsewhere turn to her for estate planning, probate administration and elder-law matters. She currently practices at the Law Office of Deirdre W. Edmonds PA, handling probate, estate planning and elder-law matters.
