About Declan

Declan Mansfield earned his undergraduate degree in accounting and financial management from Pace University, completing a B.B.A. in 1973 after beginning studies in 1969. He went on to law school at Fordham University School of Law and received his J.D. in 1977. The combination of formal training in business and a law degree shaped the trajectory of his professional life.

After law school Mansfield entered legal practice at a time when commercial law and financial regulation were evolving rapidly. He is admitted to practice in both New York and Florida and has worked in those jurisdictions over the course of his career. The record of his professional appointments is straightforward and steady rather than flashy. He built a practice that drew on the analytical rigors of accounting as well as the procedural demands of litigation and transactional work.

In 2013 Mansfield took on a teaching role as an adjunct professor at St. Leo University. Colleagues and students from that period recall a practitioner who brought classroom discussion back to the practicalities of client work. His time in the classroom was brief but notable for the way it connected academic concepts to everyday legal problems.

Mansfield’s educational background—accounting followed by law—has informed the matters he handles. That background gives him a working fluency with numbers and documents that often figure in disputes and negotiations. He has applied that fluency in a variety of matters where financial detail matters to legal outcomes. He approaches problems by breaking them down into discrete issues, then addressing those issues in sequence.

Throughout his career Mansfield has kept a pragmatic profile. He has not sought public office or high-profile litigation, preferring steady client work and problem-solving behind the scenes. That orientation has produced a mix of transactional matters, client counseling and litigation support, depending on the needs of his clients at any given time.

As of 2026 Mansfield continues to practice law, maintaining admission in New York and Florida and focusing his work on matters that bring legal and financial questions together.
