About Debra
Debra Hill graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1989. She entered the profession at a time of change in the legal landscape. Her law degree provided a foundation in both doctrinal study and practical skills, preparing her for practice across multiple states.
Soon after law school, Hill qualified to practice in Ohio, Georgia and Florida. That multi-jurisdictional standing has shaped her career. It required mastering different state rules and court procedures. It also meant she could accept matters that crossed state lines or involved parties and laws in more than one jurisdiction.
Her work over the years has been practical and detail-oriented. She has handled matters that required attention to procedural deadlines and substantive differences among state laws. Counsel and clients have relied on her ability to explain how a legal issue in one state can turn out differently in another. She approaches cases by breaking down complex points into plain language and by mapping the steps needed to move a matter forward.
Colleagues describe Hill as methodical in her preparation. She spends time on the factual record and on the small procedural moves that often determine case momentum. That approach has been useful whether in negotiations or in court. She pays particular attention to drafting and to the deadlines that govern litigation and transactional work.
Over the course of her career she has worked with individual and institutional clients, addressing questions that required coordination across three state systems. That work has ranged from advising on compliance and contracts to managing litigation tasks that depend on timely filings and careful preservation of rights. Her multi-state admissions have allowed her to steward matters from initial assessment through resolution when needed.
Outside of casework, Hill’s background includes mentoring younger attorneys and contributing to team-based practices that handle regional matters. She values the practical training that comes from real cases and from working alongside experienced trial and transactional lawyers. Those experiences have reinforced an emphasis on clear communication with clients and on planning that anticipates procedural hurdles.
She continues to practice under admissions in Georgia, Florida and Ohio. Her current practice focuses on representing clients across those three jurisdictions.
