About Deandra M
Deandra M Grant combines formal training in science and law. She earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Trinity University (1990) and a J.D. from Southern Methodist University (1993). Later she returned to graduate study at the University of Florida, completing an M.S. in Pharmaceutical Science and a Graduate Certificate in Forensic Toxicology (both listed 2016). That combination shapes much of her later work.
She began her legal career in public service. In 1994 she served as an assistant district lawyer in the Dallas County District Lawyer's Office. That early courtroom experience exposed her to a wide range of criminal matters and courtroom procedure. Within a year she moved into private practice and opened her own firm.
In 1995 she founded The Law Offices of Deandra M. Grant, PC. Over the next two decades she built a practice that handled criminal defense matters across North Texas. In 2018 she took on a managing partner role at Hamilton Grant PC. She then established Deandra Grant Law and became its managing partner in 2021. Those transitions reflect a steady move from solo practice to leadership of small firms.
Her background in pharmaceutical science and forensic toxicology informs how she approaches cases, particularly those involving toxicology, drugs, and evidence that requires scientific interpretation. She holds the ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientist certification from the American Chemical Society, a credential that signals formal training at the intersection of chemistry and law. She is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Science and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, ties that underscore her interest in technical issues that turn up in criminal litigation.
Grant has been active in professional associations for much of her career. She has served on the board of the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and on the board of directors of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association from 2011 to 2016. She was president-elect of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association in 20172018. Local memberships include the Dallas Bar Association, Plano Bar Association and several county criminal defense groups. She also participates in the NORML Legal Committee and national organizations for trial lawyers and forensic scientists.
She is licensed to practice in Texas and has spent her career handling criminal defense work across the state. Her practice today centers on criminal defense, including cases that raise scientific and toxicology issues.
