Dawn L. Jackson is an attorney specializing in criminal and employment law, with over two decades of experience. Admitted to practice in both New Jersey and the District of Columbia, she operates her primary office at 897 McBride Avenue, West Paterson, NJ 07424. Additionally, she maintains a second office at 105 Lock Street, Newark, NJ 07102. Ms. Jackson earned her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law in 1996, demonstrating her commitment to legal excellence from the outset of her career. After successfully passing the New Jersey Bar Exam on her first attempt, Ms.
Jackson began her legal journey by clerking for three criminal court judges in Freehold, NJ. This foundational experience provided her with invaluable insights into the judicial process. In 1997, she made history by becoming the first African-American woman prosecutor in the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. This groundbreaking role not only marked a significant milestone in her career but also paved the way for future generations of attorneys. Throughout her career, Ms. Jackson has handled a diverse range of cases in both criminal and employment law. In criminal law, she has represented clients facing various offenses, from misdemeanors to serious felonies, showcasing her versatility and dedication to justice.
In employment law, her expertise extends to advising clients on issues such as discrimination, severance agreements, and policy matters. Furthermore, she has served as a hearing officer for numerous disciplinary matters and as an investigator in various employment cases, solidifying her reputation as a knowledgeable and reliable legal professional. She serves as the General Counsel for the Central Jersey Chapter of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), where she contributes her legal expertise to support law enforcement initiatives. Additionally, she founded the "Run Sister Run" program at the Center for American Women in Politics, which is designed to encourage African American women to engage in the political arena.
