About David

David Shaver took a path through liberal arts and law that left him rooted in Ohio public life. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and History from Denison University in 1978. He then went on to Capital University Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1985. Those years shaped a practice attentive to institutions and the rules that govern local communities.

After law school he established his professional life in Ohio and maintained ties to the region’s civic structures. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and has combined courtroom work with roles inside local legal organizations. His career has been steady rather than flashy. He has moved through a series of posts that reflect a willingness to take on administrative as well as adjudicatory tasks.

Shaver’s service in the Fairfield County Bar Association maps a clear progression. He was secretary for 2002–2003, treasurer for 2003–2004, vice-president for 2004–2005 and president for 2005–2006. Those years required attention to governance, member needs and the practical matters that keep a county bar functioning. He also holds membership in the Columbus Bar Association and remains engaged in local legal circles.

On the bench he has served as an acting judge in the Fairfield County Municipal Court. That role has placed him at the center of day-to-day judicial work: handling arraignments, small claims, ordinance matters and other issues that commonly come before a municipal court. Serving as an acting judge has meant routine decision making under time pressure and familiarity with both procedure and community expectations.

Outside the office and courtroom he has been active in community athletics administration. He is a certified Class One Soccer Official for the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Officiating competitive sports requires a different set of skills — quick judgment, rule application and the ability to manage people in high-stakes moments. Those are skills that translate back into courthouse work.

Colleagues and neighbors see Shaver as an established local practitioner who has balanced bar leadership, temporary judicial service and community involvement over several decades. He continues to practice law in Ohio and serves as an acting judge in the Fairfield County Municipal Court. His current practice focuses on matters arising in Fairfield County and municipal court proceedings.
