About David S.
David S. Shevitz earned his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, completing law school in 2010 with study concentrated in bankruptcy law. His legal training included practical courtroom exposure while still a student. That academic grounding set the tone for a practice centered on insolvency and the laws that shape debt relief in California.
While in law school Shevitz worked inside the federal bankruptcy system. In 2009 he served as an extern to the Honorable Sheri Bluebond at the United States Bankruptcy Court. That same year he took a legal internship with the Department of Justice in the Office of the United States Trustee, gaining experience on the trustee side of bankruptcy administration. After passing into private practice he joined the Ure Law Office as a lawyer in 2011. Four years later he opened Shevitz Law Office, where he has practiced since 2015.
Shevitz is a Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law, a designation issued by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He participates in several professional groups that focus on bankruptcy practice and lawyer referral services. He has been on the board of the Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyer Association since 2014. He has board membership in the James T. King Bankruptcy American Inn of Court beginning in 2015. His work on bankruptcy panels for local bar associations includes membership on the Los Angeles County Bar Association LRIS Bankruptcy Panel since 2013 and the San Fernando Valley Bar Association LRIS Bankruptcy Panel since 2015. These affiliations keep him connected to procedural developments and local practice issues in California bankruptcy courts.
Colleagues and clients encounter a lawyer who combines courtroom experience with knowledge of trustee office procedures and creditor priorities. His practice handles insolvency matters for both individuals and small businesses, addressing case administration, creditor negotiations and litigation that arises in bankruptcy proceedings. He maintains an active presence in the Central District and other California venues where consumer and commercial bankruptcies are filed. He currently practices at Shevitz Law Office, representing California clients in bankruptcy matters.
