About David Roy Gans
David Roy Gans Mercer built his legal education across three institutions and finished his formal study of law in the late 2010s. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2013. He then completed a J.D. at Arizona Summit Law School in 2016 and went on to receive an LL.M. in Tax Law from the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in 2018, studying bankruptcy and estate planning as a subfocus.
Early in law school Mercer sought hands-on courtroom and clinic experience. In 2015 he served as a Rule 38(d) certified limited practice student in both the ASLS Bankruptcy & Consumer Debt Clinic and the ASLS Family Law Clinic. He also externed for the Probate Lawyers Assistance Project that year. Those clinic and externship placements exposed him to debtor-creditor matters, family law disputes, and probate practice in real case settings.
After earning his J.D. he began assembling a private practice presence. In 2016 he established The Law Office of David R. G. Mercer and that same year held the title of President and Secretary at AZ 3D Law. Over the following years he took on of-counsel roles, joining Moorhead Law, PLC and Urgent Law as an of counsel attorney in 2020. In 2021 he founded Cactus Blossom Legal LLC and remains the owner.
Mercer’s professional memberships track his areas of practice. He has been a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association since 2014 and joined the State Bar of Arizona Young Lawyers Division and several MCBA sections in 2016. Since 2017 he has belonged to the ABA Family Law Section and the State Bar of Arizona Family Law Section. Between 2016 and 2019 he also held memberships in a range of MCBA and State Bar sections that include bankruptcy, estate planning, probate and solo and small firm divisions. For a time he participated in Federal Bar Association sections tied to young lawyers and bankruptcy.
Colleagues and clients may recognize Mercer for moving between solo practice and collaborative roles at small firms. His background combines academic study in tax, bankruptcy and estate planning with practical clinic work in family law and consumer debt. That mix informs how he approaches cases: legal research grounded by courtroom or clinic experience.
He practices in Arizona and manages Cactus Blossom Legal LLC. He currently handles matters in family law, probate, bankruptcy and related estate planning issues.
