About Andre L.
Andre L. Pennington began his legal path in Southern California. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton and later completed his law degree at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. Those academic choices framed an early interest in criminal justice and public service.
He entered practice in Colorado as a deputy state public defender in 2006. That front-line trial work exposed him to heavy caseloads and courtroom procedure. A few years later he joined the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps as a military lawyer, where he handled matters that ranged from military justice to administrative law. He continued that connection to the armed services by joining the U.S. Air Force Reserve JAG Corps as a reserve military lawyer and has held the rank of major since 2011.
In 2011 he moved into federal practice as an assistant federal defender in the District of Arizona. That role involved federal criminal defense and complex pretrial litigation. He has also served in the civil justice system as a judge pro tem for Maricopa County Justice Courts in 2015, filling an intermittent magistrate role and presiding over lower-court matters.
Pennington founded Pennington Law in 2016 and serves as the firm's owner. The office is organized as a professional limited liability company and lists estate planning as a principal area of practice. He is also a commissioned notary public in Arizona. His admission and practice extend to multiple jurisdictions, including the courts of Colorado and Arizona and appellate venues tied to the military, such as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals.
Outside the courtroom he has combined legal practice with nonprofit work on children's issues. Since 2017 he has been general counsel and a director for Arizona's Children Coalition. Earlier involvement includes board and membership roles with the Agape Adoption Agency, the Arizona Children’s Foundation and the Arizona Group Home Coalition, as well as memberships in the American Bar Association, the El Paso County Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association. He also spent time connected to Loyola Law School’s Center for Juvenile Law & Policy during his law school years.
He maintains an active practice through Pennington Law, PLLC, where his current work centers on estate planning and related legal matters.
