About David

David Pigott began his academic path at the United States Military Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in systems engineering in 2003. He went on to complete an MBA in international business at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2007 and finished law school at the University of Colorado Boulder, receiving his J.D. in 2011. Those credentials combine technical training, business study and legal education.

After law school, Pigott built a practice that crosses state and federal lines. He is admitted to the Colorado bar and holds credentials to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect regular work in appellate settings as well as trial- and administrative-level matters in Colorado.

Colleagues describe Pigott as methodical in approach. He takes a detail-oriented view of court filings and oral argument. He writes briefs, argues appeals and handles contested matters that require coordination across jurisdictional lines. His background in systems engineering and international business informs how he organizes complex legal and factual records.

Pigott practices at Hampton & Pigott LLP. At the firm he handles matters that bring together federal and state procedures. He is comfortable in court and in written advocacy. He has experience preparing appellate briefs and presenting issues to judges at different levels of the judiciary. Admittance to the nation’s highest court permits filings on behalf of clients when cases raise questions suitable for Supreme Court review.

Outside of courtroom appearances, Pigott works on case strategy and client counseling related to procedural and appellate choices. He spends time reviewing trial records to isolate preserved issues for appeal. He also assists in assessing whether matters are appropriate for federal review, including potential venue or jurisdiction questions.

His trajectory—from engineering at West Point to business studies and then law—gives Pigott a mixed perspective on legal problems. That background shapes how he manages complex dockets and communicates legal points. He currently represents clients in Colorado and in federal courts, including appellate work before the 10th Circuit and filings in the U.S. Supreme Court.
