About David
David McGinley graduated from Loyola University Chicago School of Law with a J.D. in 2002. He completed his legal education in Chicago and entered practice shortly thereafter. His law school years gave him exposure to classroom doctrine and clinic work, and he moved into private practice after earning his degree.
McGinley joined the Law Office of Kupets & DeCaro, P.C. early in his career and became a partner there in 2005. That promotion came three years after he finished law school. As a partner, he has taken on responsibilities common to firm leadership, including overseeing matters and working with colleagues on case strategy. He has been part of the firm’s team through periods of change and steady client demand.
He maintains a current professional membership in a legal association. The membership is listed as active, and McGinley participates in the networks and events such associations provide. Those connections have kept him linked to peers across the bar and to continuing legal education opportunities.
Colleagues describe McGinley as a lawyer who prefers direct work with clients and fellow attorneys. His daily practice combines client counseling, file management and courtroom preparation when litigation is involved. He has been responsible for supervising junior lawyers and coordinating with support staff to meet the firm’s deadlines and filing requirements. His role requires balancing administrative tasks with casework and client communication.
Over the years McGinley has been based at Kupets & DeCaro, P.C., where he has continued to practice since becoming a partner. The firm setting has shaped the way he approaches casework: collaborative, procedural and client-centered. He has worked to maintain steady client relationships and to ensure that matters progress through the court and negotiation stages without unnecessary delay.
Outside of firm duties, McGinley’s career reflects a steady progression from law student to partner. He has remained in private practice and has navigated the everyday demands of running files, mentoring junior staff and responding to client needs. He currently practices at Kupets & DeCaro, P.C., where he continues to handle client matters.
