About David
David McCollum earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Management from Park University in 1994. He later returned to Missouri for legal studies and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2001. Those academic steps set the stage for a career spent largely in private practice.
He began practicing law the year he finished law school. In 2001 he opened the Law Office of David L. McCollum and operated as a solo practitioner. Three years later he joined a partnership. In 2004 he became a partner at McCollum & Griggs, LLC, a move that shifted him from solo practice to an established firm environment.
Over time his professional affiliations broadened. In 2017 he became associated with McCollum Injury Law. He is admitted to practice in Kansas and Missouri, and he is authorized to appear before the Federal Circuit. Those admissions have allowed him to handle matters in both state and federal forums.
McCollum has maintained an active presence in local legal circles. He has been a member of the Kansas City Bar Association and the Clay County Bar Association since 2001. He also joined the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys in 2005 and has continued that membership. These affiliations reflect steady participation in the professional networks that support civil litigation practice in the region.
Colleagues and clients have seen him operate in several different roles: solo practitioner, partner and member of a firm identified with injury work. He has handled cases through firms bearing his name and worked inside partnership structures that required coordination across attorneys and staff. His courtroom exposure includes appearances in state courts and filings that reach federal levels, consistent with his admitted jurisdictions.
He keeps a local practice centered on matters that arise in the Kansas and Missouri court systems and that may require federal appellate attention. He divides his time between case preparation, client consultation and courtroom work. He currently practices through McCollum Injury Law, concentrating on cases arising in state and federal courts.
