About David M.

David M. Trontz earned his law degree from St. Thomas University in 1989 after completing an undergraduate degree in economics at Davidson College in 1985. He entered the legal profession at a time when many paths were open to a new lawyer. He chose a path that mixed public service and private practice.

His early legal work included service as a JAG officer in the United States Army beginning in 1993. That role placed him inside military legal systems and courtroom processes. He later served as an assistant state lawyer in the Miami-Dade County State Lawyers Office in 1998, gaining experience on the prosecution side of the docket. These positions gave him exposure to trial work and the procedural demands of public-sector litigation.

Trontz moved into private practice in the early 2000s. He joined Thornton, Davis & Fein, P.A., as an associate in 2001. Two years later he became a partner at Donet, McMillan & Trontz. That partnership marked a shift into firm leadership and the business side of running a law practice. It also broadened the range of matters he handled and the types of clients he represented.

Beyond his roles at firms, Trontz has remained active in local and national bar organizations. He holds memberships in the Cuban American Bar Association and the Dade County Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association, and the Dade County Defense Bar. Those affiliations have kept him engaged with continuing legal education, local legal trends, and the professional networks that shape practice in Florida.

Colleagues describe a lawyer whose résumé reflects a balance of public duty and private practice. He brings the perspective of a former JAG officer and an assistant state lawyer to matters that require courtroom poise. Over the years he has handled the procedural and strategic demands that come with both trial work and client counseling.

Trontz maintains an office in Continental Plaza. He practices law in Florida and has continued to work in settings that call for litigation experience and courtroom readiness. He currently practices in Florida, concentrating on litigation that draws on his prior experience as a JAG officer and as an assistant state lawyer.
