About David
David Kowalski entered law school after completing a political science degree at Rutgers University–Newark. He graduated from Marquette University Law School in 2006 and returned to Wisconsin to begin his legal career. The early move set the pattern for a practice concentrated in state matters and professional involvement across local bar organizations.
He began practicing in 2006 at Balisle & Roberson, SC. That first position lasted several years and gave him front-line experience in courtroom work and client counseling. In 2011 he joined Krueger & Hernandez as an associate. There he built a caseload and worked alongside more senior counsel on contested matters.
In 2013 Kowalski became an owner at Kowalski, Wilson & Vang, LLC. Taking on firm ownership changed his day-to-day role. He continued client work while also managing administrative and business aspects of a small firm. The firm is listed with offices under the same name in Wisconsin.
Kowalski’s professional affiliations reflect steady engagement with family law and issues involving children. From 2011 to 2017 he served on the board of the State Bar of Wisconsin Children and the Law Section. He later joined the board of the State Bar of Wisconsin Family Law Section in 2017, a role he holds at present. He has been a member of the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin since 2014 and belonged to an American Inns of Court chapter from 2015 until 2018.
Those memberships have shaped the kinds of matters he handles. He is a member of the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin and has taken part in collaborative practice circles and trainings associated with that group. His work often intersects with the procedural and substantive issues that arise in family and children’s law, including negotiated settlements, parenting plans, and court filings when necessary.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and deliberate in courtroom settings. He balances negotiation and litigation strategies according to client needs. Outside of hearings, he has been involved in bar section activities that address practice standards and resources for lawyers working on family law cases.
He maintains his practice at Kowalski, Wilson & Vang, LLC, where he handles family law, collaborative practice, and matters involving children.
