About David Joseph

David Joseph Dischley grew up studying the criminal justice system at community college and then at George Mason University, where he earned a B.S. in Administration of Justice in 2003. He continued at George Mason University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2006. Earlier coursework at Northern Virginia Community College in Administration of Justice dates to 1998, rounding out a practical and academic grounding in criminal law and procedure.

He began his career in local prosecution. In 2003 he served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Loudoun County, a role he continued in 2004. He later returned to public service as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Fauquier County in 2008. Those early years put him in court regularly and gave him a steady diet of felony and misdemeanor trials. In 2009 he moved into private practice as a trial lawyer with Bose Law Office, PLLC, and four years later he founded Dischley Law, PLLC, where he became managing partner in 2013.

Dischley’s practice has kept him in trial settings. He has litigated in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and remains an active member of those federal bars. He has also been a member of the Virginia State Bar since 2006 and maintains memberships in local and state bar associations across Northern Virginia. That blend of prosecution and defense work informs how he approaches case preparation and courtroom strategy.

Professional affiliations populate much of his professional life. He belongs to the Virginia State Bar’s Criminal Law Section and the National College for DUI Defense. He is listed among the Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Association of Trial Lawyers and holds memberships with organizations that include the Fairfax and Arlington County bar associations, the National Trial Lawyers Association, and various local bar groups. Those connections have kept him engaged with developments in criminal procedure, trial advocacy, and DUI defense.

Colleagues and clients encounter a lawyer who is accustomed to both bench trials and federal filings. His background as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney gave him early exposure to evidence rules, witness preparation, and the pace of courtroom litigation. In private practice he has carried that courtroom experience into defense work, handling matters that require contested hearings and trial readiness.

As of 2026 he leads Dischley Law, PLLC, where he manages cases that arise in state and federal courts and continues to focus his practice on criminal defense and DUI matters.
