About David John

David John Hoey is an attorney licensed to practice law in Massachusetts. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at Western New England College in 1989 and earned his Juris Doctor from Massachusetts School of Law in 1994. Those academic years framed the start of a legal career centered in his home state.

Hoey moved into practice in the mid-1990s. He built a practice informed by courtroom experience and day-to-day client work. Over the years he has handled matters that required appearances in Massachusetts courts and interactions with state-level agencies. He has combined litigation and counseling tasks in ways that mirror how many small, regional practices operate—managing files, preparing pleadings, and arguing motions when necessary.

Colleagues and clients see him as steady in the courtroom and methodical in preparation. He has navigated procedural shifts and changes in state law while continuing to serve people and organizations within Massachusetts. His work has required familiarity with local rules, court calendars, and the practical realities of litigating in state court.

Hoey’s practice has included advising clients on compliance issues as well as representing them in contested matters. He has prepared filings, taken depositions, and argued cases before trial courts. At the same time, much of his day-to-day work has involved counseling clients about options and next steps—balancing the need for decisive action with the realities of litigation timelines.

Outside of the courtroom, he has engaged in the routine tasks that sustain a legal practice: file management, client communications, and coordination with experts and opposing counsel. These activities are often less visible but essential to achieving results for clients.

Across more than three decades since he completed law school, Hoey has maintained a practice rooted in Massachusetts law. He continues to serve clients in the state and adapts his approach to fit the particulars of each matter. He currently focuses his practice on representing clients in matters arising under Massachusetts law.
