About David

David Irvine earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2007 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science and religion at Wake Forest University in 2004. He moved from the classroom to the courtroom early in his career, first serving in a judicial clerkship that gave him front-row exposure to trial procedure and written opinion work.

His clerkship was with The Honorable Edward L. Hogshire of the 16th Judicial Circuit in Charlottesville, Virginia. The experience grounded him in state court practice and gave him a close view of how judges analyze evidence and legal argument. After that year on the bench, he entered private practice and took on a series of associate roles that broadened his litigation background.

In 2009 he worked as an associate at Tremblay & Smith and at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. Those early positions involved civil litigation across a variety of matters and helped him develop courtroom skills and case-management habits that carry through his later work. By 2015 he was in a trial lawyer role at Allen, Allen, Allen and Allen, P.C., where he handled contested matters and appeared in court on behalf of clients.

Irvine is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia. He also holds admissions in several federal courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Those admissions reflect a practice that has included both state-court and federal-court litigation.

Outside the office he participates in professional organizations tied to trial work. He is active in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, serving on the Board of Governors and listed as Immediate Past President of the Young Trial Lawyers section. He also serves as a co-chair of the VTLA Publications Committee. Locally, he is a member of the Charlottesville Albemarle Bar Association and the Thomas Jefferson Inn of Court.

His career path shows steady movement from clerkship to associate positions and on to trial practice. He has handled matters at the state level and in multiple federal districts. That practical courtroom experience informs how he prepares cases, manages discovery and presents arguments at trial.

Irvine practices from the Charlottesville office of Allen & Allen. He currently concentrates his work on litigation matters in state and federal courts, handling trial preparation and courtroom representation for his clients.
