About David
David Hendrickson took a steady, hands-on route into the law. He completed a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Utah in 2003, then earned his J.D. from Western State University College of Law in 2006. Those academic years provided the legal foundation he would return to after a long stretch in uniform.
His first years of service were spent in the United States Marine Corps. Enlisted as an infantry rifleman in 1997, he rose to the rank of platoon sergeant. That experience shaped his approach to leadership and decision-making. After leaving the Marines he transitioned to law school and to a new kind of public service.
Hendrickson’s early legal career included a 2009 role as an associate at Stone & Law. The following year he entered the U.S. Army as a judge advocate. In that capacity he worked on military legal matters, representing service members and advising command personnel. The work combined courtroom tasks, client counseling, and administrative responsibilities tied to military justice.
After military practice he moved back into civilian defense work. In 2018 he joined a civilian defense firm as an associate, handling a range of defense matters in the civilian system. He spent those years refining litigation skills and adjusting strategies for nonmilitary courts.
In 2021 he opened the Law Office of David S. Hendrickson and became owner and managing lawyer. Building a small practice brought new responsibilities. He manages case flow, client intake, and the daily operations of his office, while taking cases that align with his experience.
Hendrickson is admitted to practice in Utah and in Hawaii. Those dual jurisdictions reflect personal and professional ties across the region and allow him to represent clients under both state regimes.
Colleagues and clients describe his style as pragmatic and direct. He favors plain explanations over legalese and practical solutions over theoretical debates. Courtroom work, client interviews, and case preparation are handled in a straightforward manner.
He currently practices from the Law Office of David S. Hendrickson, where he handles civil defense and matters that draw on his military law background.
