About David E.

David E. Werner came to law from a liberal arts background and an Ivy League undergraduate degree. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Yale University in 2006, then returned to Florida to complete a Juris Doctor at the University of Miami in 2014. The sequence is straightforward, but the shape of his early career was formed by a short, intensive clerkship and rapid entrée into trial work.

Fresh out of law school he served as a law clerk at Colson Hicks Eidson in 2014. That year in a courtroom-heavy environment gave him a practical view of litigation and client preparation. He spent those months watching case strategy unfold and learning how to move a case from complaint to trial-ready posture.

Within a year he began engaging with professional organizations that align with trial practice. He joined the American Association for Justice in 2015 and a year later took a role on the membership board of the Miami-Dade Trial Lawyers Association. Those memberships have been steady. They supply continuing legal education, networking, and a forum for trial lawyers in Florida to discuss procedure, advocacy techniques, and changing law.

Werner’s work blends courtroom readiness with client-facing responsibilities. He is experienced in assembling pleadings, managing discovery, and preparing evidence for hearings and trials. He has developed a routine for case evaluation that emphasizes fact-gathering, witness preparation, and tactical choices about when to pursue negotiated resolutions and when to proceed to trial. Colleagues describe him as methodical in trial preparation and practical in his day-to-day approach to litigation tasks.

He keeps a bi-regional presence in Southwest and South Florida, maintaining offices in Fort Myers and Miami. That geography allows him to accept matters across a broad portion of the state and to appear in multiple jurisdictions when necessary. The two-office setup also reflects his preference for hands-on client work combined with courtroom appearances when the calendar requires it.

Outside of the courtroom he participates in the professional life of Florida’s trial bar through board service and association involvement. Those roles keep him current on procedural changes and case law developments important to trial lawyers in the state.

As of 2026 he continues to practice law in Florida, maintaining offices in Fort Myers and Miami and concentrating his practice on civil trial and litigation matters on behalf of clients.
