About David
David Bond trained first as a musician and later as a lawyer. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in classical guitar from the Manhattan School of Music in 1984 and a Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law in 1998. Those two stages of study laid out an unlikely path toward a practice that has crossed public service, firm work and solo practice.
He began his legal career in 1998 at Downs Rachlin Martin, PLC, where he handled matters typical of a midsize regional firm. In 2005 he moved into public service as an Assistant Attorney General in Vermont, gaining experience in government litigation and regulatory matters. That role was followed by a return to private practice; in 2007 he joined Fead Construction Law, PLC, where he worked on construction-related disputes and contract issues.
Bond later set out on his own. He formed the Law Office of David Bond, PLLC in 2014 and the next year became an owner at Strouse & Bond, PLLC. Those moves shifted his work toward managing client files and running a small practice. He has maintained multi-jurisdictional admissions, holding licenses in Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont and New York, and he is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
His roster of roles reflects a mix of trial and appellate experience. From 2013 to 2016 he served on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals Pro Bono Panel, accepting appeals for parties unable to hire counsel. That service speaks to early appellate exposure and ongoing engagement with federal appellate procedure. His years at a construction-focused firm point to a familiarity with construction disputes, contracts and related litigation. Time in the state attorney general’s office added regulatory and public-law work to his background.
Colleagues describe Bond as methodical in court preparation and steady at the hearing table. He balances the detail-oriented work of construction and contract litigation with the procedural demands of appellate practice. He also brings a different temperament to his practice, shaped in part by a long background in classical music, which he says taught him patience and attention to small but important details.
In his current practice at Strouse & Bond, PLLC, Bond manages civil litigation matters, handles construction- and contract-related disputes, and accepts appellate work, including pro bono appeals in federal court. His current practice focuses on civil litigation, construction and appellate matters.
