About Charles Jordan
Charles Jordan Handy built his legal foundation at Franklin Pierce College, where he completed a B.S. in Finance with a minor in Economics in 2008. He went on to earn his J.D. from Vermont Law School in 2011. Those years of classroom study were followed by hands-on legal work that helped him move into practice.
Early in his career Handy worked as a law clerk. In 2010 he served in a clerkship with the Chittenden County State's Lawyer. The following year he clerked for Kaplan & Kaplan. Those positions put him inside courtrooms and offices. They exposed him to trial preparation, research and the day-to-day work of litigation.
After his clerkships Handy remained active in Vermont’s legal community. He joined the Vermont Bar Association in 2015. He became a member of the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2016. In 2015 he also took on the role of Vermont Ambassador for the American Association of Premier DUI Lawyers. Outside purely legal organizations he has been a member of BNI Champlain Connections since 2015. These associations reflect the judicial and professional networks he has maintained while building a practice.
Handy opened his own office under the name Handy Law. The firm profile lists his jurisdictions as Vermont and the Federal Circuit, indicating federal as well as state work. Colleagues describe him as methodical at trial preparation. Clients see a lawyer who moves quickly through procedural tasks and keeps a steady line of communication.
In court he brings the experience of two clerkships and several years of practice in Vermont courts. His association roles point to a familiarity with criminal defense and impaired driving cases. He combines courtroom exposure with an understanding of finance from his undergraduate degree. He operates Handy Law and continues to appear in Vermont courts and in matters that reach the Federal Circuit. He currently focuses his practice on criminal defense and DUI-related matters.
