About David
David Baria built a career that crosses business, public service and the courtroom. He studied criminal justice at the University of Southern Mississippi, earning a B.S. in 1987. He went on to the University of Mississippi School of Law and received his J.D. in 1990. Those years set a foundation in both practical and legal thinking.
He moved into the private sector early in his professional life. In 2005 he served as CEO of Rhino Construction, LLC, managing operations in a commercial context. He later launched his own firm, Baria-Jones, PLLC, in 2009. He has also held elected office in the State of Mississippi; records show he served in a legislative capacity in 2008.
Bar admissions include the State of Mississippi and federal practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Mississippi, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is also accredited as a mediator by the Mississippi State Bar. Those credentials underpin his work in contested matters and alternative dispute resolution.
His professional affiliations are extensive and reflect a steady engagement with the trial bar. He is a member of The Mississippi Bar and of several county bar associations, including Hancock, Hinds and Magnolia. He belongs to national groups as well: the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is listed as a Fellow in the Mississippi Bar Foundation and holds memberships in litigation-focused organizations such as the Litigation Counsel of America and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association.
In 2019 he joined Cosmich, Simmons & Brown, PLLC as a lawyer. That move brought him into a firm setting after years managing his own practice and prior business ventures. Colleagues describe him as experienced in courtroom procedure and seasoned in case preparation; his memberships and mediator certification speak to a mix of trial readiness and dispute resolution skills.
Baria’s practice history spans ownership of a boutique firm, corporate leadership and service in state government. He maintains an active presence in bar groups and professional organizations that center on litigation and public-service lawyering. His current practice centers on litigation and dispute resolution at Cosmich, Simmons & Brown, PLLC.
