About David B.

David B. Menchetti graduated from Stanford University in 1981 with a B.A. in political science and earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago in 1984. Those years set the course for a career focused on the law that governs work and workplace injury. He moved into practice in Illinois and has maintained a long involvement in the field of workers' compensation.

Early in his career Menchetti took on leadership roles in local bar and trial lawyer organizations. He chaired the Chicago Bar Association’s Industrial Commission Committee from 1993 to 1994. He served as chair of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Law Section Council and was a member of its Legislation Committee from 1996 to 1997. In 1999 he was president of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association and in 2001 he served as chair of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association’s Workers’ Compensation Committee. Those posts gave him recurring exposure to the policy debates and legislative changes that affect injured workers and employers alike.

Over the years Menchetti has combined association work with case-level practice. He maintains memberships in the American Association for Justice’s Workplace Injury Section and the Workplace Injury Litigation Group. He sits on the board of the Chicago Area Committee on Occupational Health and Safety and currently serves as an advisor to the Illinois AFL-CIO on workers’ compensation matters. His roles in these organizations reflect sustained engagement on the practical and legislative sides of workplace injury law.

Colleagues and organizations have turned to him for committee leadership and counsel on legislative issues. He has chaired committees and participated in legislative review, helping shape positions that organizations have taken on proposed changes to workers’ compensation law. His background in political science and law provides a foundation for that work, and he has moved between advocacy in association settings and individual client representation.

Menchetti practices law at Willens Law Offices. He works on matters arising under Illinois workers’ compensation law and advises unions and other stakeholders on compensation issues. His current practice at Willens Law Offices handles workers’ compensation matters in Illinois.
