About David
David Altman earned his B.A. in philosophy from Suffolk University in 1995 and continued there for law school, receiving his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1998. He followed a straightforward academic path: liberal arts first, then legal training. The education provided a foundation in reasoning and argument that would shape his work at the bar.
Soon after law school he joined Altman & Altman LLP. By 1999 he was listed as a partner at the firm. He has practiced in Massachusetts throughout his career and is admitted to the Massachusetts bar. His long tenure at a single firm has given him continuity in the local courts and among peers.
Altman maintains active memberships in a number of professional organizations. He belongs to the Massachusetts State Bar and the Massachusetts Bar Association. He is also a member of the Boston Bar Association. On the trial side, he holds memberships in the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers, and the American Association for Justice. Those affiliations suggest steady engagement with trial practice and civil litigation communities.
Colleagues describe his work as steady and direct. He has built a practice that moves between courtroom work and the preparation necessary to reach that stage. He tends to keep an emphasis on practical outcomes and clear presentation rather than legal theory alone. Over the years he has handled matters that required courtroom presence, settlement negotiation and client counseling in Massachusetts courts.
He continues to practice at Altman & Altman LLP. He is active in maintaining ties to local and national trial organizations and to the Massachusetts bar. His current practice focuses on civil trial work in Massachusetts.
