David Alan Patton is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1988. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Patton is a partner at Lonich Patton Ehrlich Policastri, a law firm located at 1871 The Alameda, Suite 400, San Jose, California. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout the San Jose area and the broader Silicon Valley region.
Mr. Patton earned his Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1987. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and French in 1983. During his time at Santa Clara University, he served as an editor of the Santa Clara Law Review and gained international experience by working for a law firm in Singapore and attending the University of Singapore Law School.
Mr. Patton concentrates his practice in the area of family law. He represents individuals and families in matters involving divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. He also serves as a family law mediator and private settlement judge, assisting parties in resolving disputes outside of traditional litigation.
Throughout his career, Mr. Patton has handled cases in all California courts, including the Superior Court of California for Santa Clara County, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in San Jose for five years.
Mr. Patton is an active member of the State Bar of California and the Santa Clara County Bar Association, where he participates in the family law section. He is also a certified family law specialist, a designation granted by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He has served as a Commissioner/Vice Chair of the Family Law Advisory Committee (FLAC), responsible for writing and grading the certification examination and the certification of specialists. Mr. Patton is fluent in English and French, allowing him to serve a diverse clientele effectively.
