About David A.
David A. Nacht studied government at Harvard, earning his B.A. in 1987. He went on to the University of Michigan Law School, where he received his J.D. in 1992. Those academic years set the foundation for a career that moves between the courtroom and the classroom.
Early in his professional life Nacht combined practice and teaching. He has served as a guest lecturer at the University of Michigan and taken on teaching roles in professional settings. His work as a lecturer in the Intellectual Property Section and as an employment law lecturer for the State Bar of Michigan shows a willingness to engage with both doctrinal and practice-oriented subjects.
His bar credentials extend across state lines. He is licensed to practice in Michigan and in Ohio. Over the years he has belonged to a long list of professional groups: the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. He also holds memberships in more specialized associations, including the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Michigan Employment Lawyers Association and the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association.
Nacht has participated in health law education through the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section, where he has served on the faculty. He is also active locally through the Washtenaw County Bar Association and has ties to public-interest groups such as the ACLU of Michigan and the Ohio Association for Justice. Those connections reflect a practice that engages with both individual advocacy and broader professional conversations.
Recognition in directories and peer listings appears on his résumé. He is listed among Business Leaders & Professionals by the Top 100 Registry and has been noted in America’s Top 100 Criminal Defense Lawyers in the white-collar and general criminal defense categories. These entries sit alongside his teaching work and bar involvement rather than defining them.
He practices through NachtLaw, PC. His work draws on courtroom experience and an active role in legal education. Today he continues at NachtLaw, PC, handling employment law and criminal defense matters as part of his regular practice.
