About David A
David A Black built a career that moves from public service into private practice. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Justice Studies from Arizona State University in 2002 and a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2004. Those years framed his early interest in the intersections of law, government and community.
After law school he entered public employment. In 2007 he served as a deputy county lawyer at the Maricopa County Lawyer’s Office. That role placed him inside county government and exposed him to the day-to-day demands of municipal and county legal work. He moved into private practice the following year, joining Alcock and Associates, P.C. as a lawyer in 2008.
He became a member of the State Bar of Arizona the same year he joined private practice. In 2010 he opened his own firm, Law Offices of David A. Black PLLC. He has maintained that practice since then and lists the firm as his primary office. He also holds membership in AACJ beginning in 2010 and continues that affiliation.
Colleagues describe him as practical and steady in handling client matters. His early government work gave him a familiarity with the procedures and constraints public offices face. Time in a small private firm exposed him to case management and client counseling in a different setting. Those combined experiences inform how he approaches legal problems now.
He is licensed to practice in both Arizona and California and has worked across the two jurisdictions over the course of his career. That cross-state capability shapes the kinds of questions clients bring to him. He handles matters that require an understanding of both state systems and the particular demands of local practice.
Today he runs the Law Offices of David A. Black PLLC, overseeing the firm’s files and advising clients on matters that arise in the region. He continues to maintain memberships in professional organizations and to practice in Arizona and California. He currently focuses his practice on legal matters in Arizona and California.
