About Darryl A.
Darryl A. Goldberg earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2000 and completed his J.D. at Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2003. He arrived in practice at a moment when municipal and federal work overlapped more often. His legal education put him on a path that combined public service and private practice early on.
He began his career as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the City of Chicago’s Corporation Counsel’s Office in 2003. That role exposed him to government-side litigation and the mechanics of municipal representation. In 2004 he joined Meczyk Goldberg as a partner, stepping into a firm environment and courtroom work outside the government. He later established the Law Offices of Darryl A. Goldberg and has practiced under that name since.
Goldberg maintains a broad slate of admissions across state and federal courts. He is admitted in Illinois and Florida and holds admissions in a number of federal districts and circuits, including the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois; the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan; the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana; the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin; the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas; the Southern District of Florida; the Western District of New York; the District of Nebraska; and the District of Columbia. He is also admitted to the Sixth and Seventh Circuits. Those credentials allow him to take cases that range from state matters to multi-district federal litigation.
On the professional side, Goldberg is a member of several bar groups. He belongs to the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. He also holds membership in the American Bar Association and The Florida Bar. He lists life membership in the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. The mix of memberships reflects practice across jurisdictions and an engagement with criminal defense practice among other areas.
In day-to-day practice Goldberg handles courtroom work, filings in federal and state courts, and client counseling that arises from litigation. He operates from the Law Offices of Darryl A. Goldberg. He takes a hands-on approach to casework and manages matters that require appearances in the federal courts and state systems where he is admitted. He currently practices criminal defense and federal litigation.
