About Danielle
Danielle Hawkes earned her J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2010. She began working in legal settings while in law school, taking on roles that exposed her to civil liberties and local prosecution work. Early positions included a law clerk role at the American Civil Liberties Union of Utah in 2008 and a clinical internship at the Salt Lake City Prosecutor’s Office in 2009.
After graduating, Hawkes moved into policy and advocacy. In 2010 she served as a policy analyst and legal fellow at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health. That position placed her at the intersection of law and public policy and involved researching legal issues and helping shape advocacy efforts related to reproductive health.
Hawkes also worked in employment law during her early career. In 2009 she was employed as an employment discrimination law clerk at Strindberg and Scholnick, LLC. A few years later, she transitioned into private practice leadership. She accepted a partner role at The Salt Lake Lawyers in 2014, combining casework with firm management responsibilities.
Her involvement with nonprofit legal work continued alongside her private practice. Hawkes joined the board of the ACLU of Utah in 2015 and has served in that capacity since. The board role complements the earlier ACLU law clerk experience and reflects a sustained interest in civil liberties and public-interest law.
Those varied experiences inform how she approaches client matters today. Hawkes brings courtroom exposure, policy analysis, and employment-law experience to cases that require both legal strategy and clear explanations for clients. Colleagues describe her as practical in the courtroom and thorough in preparation. She handles litigation and negotiation, and she has represented clients in matters that touch on family dynamics and statutory protections.
She serves clients through Hawkes Family Law. Her practice addresses family law issues such as divorce, child custody and support, and related proceedings. She currently practices at Hawkes Family Law, concentrating on family law matters including divorce, custody and support.
