About Daniel
Daniel Wehking is an estate planning and elder law attorney based in Lady Lake, Florida. Since 2006, he has been dedicated to practicing law in the state. His firm, located at 104 S Old Dixie Highway, specializes in various services, including estate planning, asset protection, guardianships, elder law, and estate and trust administration and litigation. This comprehensive approach allows him to assist clients in navigating complex legal fields as they prepare for the future. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Daniel's early experiences shaped his commitment to service.
He attended the Marine and Science Technology Academy, a marine science-themed public magnet school near Key Biscayne. His focus on wildlife led him to work at the Miami Seaquarium and the Monkey Jungle, where he cared for dolphins and monkeys. These formative years instilled in him a sense of responsibility and compassion, qualities that he brings to his legal practice. Daniel earned his Bachelor of Science from Florida State University in Tallahassee, where he developed a solid foundation in critical thinking and analysis. He then pursued his Juris Doctorate at Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, New Jersey.
During his time in law school, he was awarded a Dean Merit Scholarship, recognizing his academic achievements and potential. After graduating, Daniel returned to Florida to begin his legal career as a prosecutor in Polk County, where he gained invaluable courtroom experience. In Polk County, he tried numerous cases, securing sentences up to life in prison without parole for serious felonies. His commitment to justice continued with the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel in Marion and Putnam Counties. There, he handled serious cases, including first-degree felony murder, at both trial and appellate levels.
This extensive background in criminal law provided him with unique insights into the legal system, which he now applies to his estate planning and elder law practice. In 2016, Daniel made a significant transition to focus on estate planning and elder law, recognizing the growing need for these services in his community. He is an active member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution, Elder Law, and Real Property, Probate and Trust Law sections of the Florida Bar Association. Outside of his professional life, Daniel is married to Tracey, a fellow former prosecutor who currently serves as the Youth Services Coordinator for the Sumter County Library System. Together, they contribute to their community while navigating the details of the legal profession.
