About Daniel

Daniel Lopez earned his law degree from the University of La Verne College of Law in 2016, where he concentrated in Business Associations and Trademark Law. That legal curriculum prepared him for the practical business questions that follow a company's first days on paper. It also gave him training in the mechanics of entity governance and the basics of protecting a brand.

Before law school he studied at Rutgers University–Newark and earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice. The undergraduate program sharpened his analytical approach to facts and procedure. Those skills carried over into law school and into his early work as a lawyer advising clients on regulatory and transactional matters.

Lopez is admitted to practice in New Jersey and California. After gaining experience in transactional matters he founded Empire Business Law in 2020. He opened the firm to provide legal services tailored to small and midsize businesses, handling both routine corporate matters and discrete intellectual property issues that affect brands and trademarks.

His practice covers entity formation and governance, contract drafting and review, and trademark clearance and registration. He handles documents that define ownership and control. He reviews and negotiates commercial agreements and helps clients understand liability and compliance risks. On trademark matters he assists with searches, filings, and responses to office actions.

Colleagues and clients describe his approach as pragmatic. He tends to favor clear, plain English in agreements. He aims to break complex issues into manageable steps so business owners can make informed decisions without getting lost in technicalities. He also works with outside accountants and advisors when matters require tax or industry-specific expertise.

Since founding Empire Business Law, Lopez has maintained a practice that crosses state lines. He represents clients in both New Jersey and California, arranging legal structures and intellectual property protections that align with each client’s business plans and regulatory environment. He currently practices at Empire Business Law and focuses on business law, entity formation, governance and trademark matters.
