About Daniel K.
Daniel K. Martin is a California lawyer who has spent two decades working in criminal defense. He trained at San Joaquin College of Law, earning his J.D. in 2001, and later completed a master’s degree in organizational behavior at Alliant International University in 2006. Those academic steps bookend his early move into public defense and his later work running a private practice.
Fresh out of law school, Martin took a position as a law clerk in the Tulare County Public Defender’s office. He worked in that environment early in his career, supporting public defenders and gaining experience with courtroom procedures and case preparation. The clerkship placed him inside the local court system and gave him regular contact with judges, prosecutors and clients facing criminal charges.
By 2006 Martin had shifted into criminal defense practice. That year he began working under his own name at the Law Office of Daniel K Martin. He also served as a criminal defense lawyer at the Alternate Defense Office. Those roles involved representing people accused of crimes in California courts and handling the tasks that come with defending criminal cases, from pretrial hearings to plea discussions.
Martin’s educational background in organizational behavior is uncommon among trial lawyers. It informs how he organizes case files and manages interactions with clients and other parties. The degree gives him a different perspective on office operations and on the human dynamics that appear during investigations, interviews and courtroom work.
Across public and private roles, Martin’s career reflects steady involvement in California’s criminal justice system. He has practical experience in the administrative and advocacy sides of defense work. Colleagues and clients see him as someone comfortable inside courtrooms and legal processes, and he has returned repeatedly to direct criminal defense representation since 2006.
He remains licensed to practice in California and maintains his practice there. He currently practices criminal defense in California.
