About Daniel

Daniel Carter combined an early interest in economics with formal legal training. He earned a B.S. in Economics and Legal Studies from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He then completed his law degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he prepared for practice in both state and federal courts.

After law school Carter began building a practice that spans trial and appellate work. He is admitted to the bar in Oklahoma and is also admitted to practice before the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those admissions reflect a practice that frequently involves appellate briefing and argument in addition to lower-court litigation.

Carter joined Conner & Winters, where he is part of the firm’s roster of litigators. Over the years he has handled matters that require courtroom presence as well as extended periods of legal research and brief writing. Colleagues describe him as deliberate in his preparation and direct in court. He is known for parsing complex records and distilling the legal issues that matter most to judges.

His work covers a range of civil disputes. He appears in state courts across Oklahoma and in federal district and appellate courts when cases raise questions appropriate for higher review. He has experience preparing appellate briefs, drafting dispositive motions, and presenting oral argument before appellate panels. He also counsels clients on litigation strategy when an appeal is a likely outcome.

Outside the courtroom he has engaged in the routine practice tasks that support litigation: supervising discovery, coordinating expert testimony, and managing case schedules. He also spends time mentoring junior attorneys at the firm, offering practical guidance on court procedure and appellate advocacy. Those behind-the-scenes efforts shape how cases are presented to judges and juries.

Carter’s education and admissions permit him to move fluidly between trial and appellate settings. He remains at Conner & Winters, representing clients in trial and appellate litigation and attending to the detailed work that complex civil cases require.
