About Daniel Alan
Daniel Alan Terner approaches law from a human side. He listens before he speaks. He values clarity. That sensibility traces back to a liberal arts undergraduate education and a law degree earned in the mid-1990s, and it shows in how he organizes cases and explains options to clients.
Terner completed a B.A. at Rutgers University–New Brunswick/Piscataway in 1991, studying English, psychology and criminology. He then earned his J.D. from Emory University in 1995. The combination of humanities and social science coursework left him comfortable with detailed documents and with the interpersonal aspects of legal work.
After law school he entered practice and over time turned his attention to issues affecting older adults. He stepped into elder law at a moment when families increasingly needed help with planning for long-term care, incapacity and estate matters. He has handled a range of matters that arise for seniors and their relatives, and he aims to make complex processes easier to understand.
Terner is the principal attorney at Terner Elder Law, P.L. The firm’s practice revolves around legal concerns common to aging clients and their families. He assists clients with planning documents, navigating public benefits, and handling transitions that come with changing health and financial circumstances. He approaches each file in a pragmatic manner, breaking problems into manageable steps and explaining trade-offs clearly.
Community work has been part of his calendar for years. Since 2013 he has volunteered with Wellington Cares. He also served as a trustee of Temple Sinai from 2012 to 2013. Those roles have kept him connected to local nonlegal concerns and to people who bring real-world questions to the office.
His background in English, psychology and criminology surfaces in his practice: clear writing, an eye for possible behavioral complications, and attention to practical risk. Colleagues describe him as methodical and plainspoken in client meetings. He currently focuses his practice on elder law matters at Terner Elder Law, P.L., assisting older adults and their families.
