About Daniel A.
Daniel A. White built a steady legal path that began in the Midwest and led to a practice centered on bankruptcy and creditor rights in New Mexico. He earned a B.A. in political science from Saint Olaf College in 2005 and a J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2009. Those academic years framed his interest in financial distress matters and federal practice.
Early on he took a courtroom-facing summer clerkship in 2011 at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Mexico. That experience put him inside the local insolvency system and familiarized him with federal bankruptcy procedure. The following year he worked at Arland & Associates, LLC, gaining further exposure to commercial creditors and contested matters.
In 2013 he joined Askew & Mazel, LLC as a lawyer. He handled contested claims, motions for relief from stay, and creditor litigation. Over time he expanded responsibilities to include negotiations on workout agreements and the drafting of creditor-side pleadings. In 2020 he became a partner at Askew & White, LLC, signaling a shift into leadership while continuing active casework.
White is admitted to practice in New Mexico and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He holds board certification in Creditor s Rights Law from the American Board of Certification. That credential reflects training and testing specific to the problems creditors face in bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings. Outside the courtroom he founded the New Mexico chapter of Credit Abuse and Resistance Education in 2018, a community-oriented effort that emphasizes consumer financial literacy and responsible credit use.
He has been a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the American Bar Association since 2012. He also participates in the New Mexico State Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Law Section, attending section meetings and contributing to practitioner discussions. His work combines litigation, transactional drafting, and the counseling of secured parties and other creditor clients.
At Askew & White, LLC he manages a docket of contested bankruptcy matters, creditor remedies, and related appeals. He divides his time between court appearances, client advisement, and strategic planning for creditors navigating insolvency and recovery options. He currently practices at Askew & White, LLC, handling creditor rights and bankruptcy matters.
