About Dana Louise

Dana Louise Curtis is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1987. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Curtis is the principal at Dana Curtis Mediation, a mediation practice based in Sausalito, California. She has been practicing law for over 38 years, serving clients throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

Ms. Curtis earned her Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1987. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of Montana. During her time at Santa Clara University, she developed a strong foundation in alternative dispute resolution, which has been central to her legal career.

Ms. Curtis specializes in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), focusing on mediation, arbitration, and conflict resolution. She has extensive experience in mediating a wide range of disputes, including business and commercial conflicts, employment issues, partnership disputes, elder-related matters such as adult family decisions and elder abuse, trusts, estates, and probate cases, as well as personal injury claims. Her practice encompasses all stages of ADR processes, including training, mediation, early neutral evaluation, special master appointments, and independent fact-finding.

Throughout her career, Ms. Curtis has handled cases in various courts, including the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the Court of Appeal for the First, Second, and Third Appellate Districts, and the Superior Courts of Marin, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and San Francisco. She has also served as a Circuit Mediator for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit for four years. Prior to establishing her own practice, she served as a law clerk to Associate Justice Edward A. Panelli of the California Supreme Court and practiced commercial and employment litigation with McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen in San Francisco and San Jose.

Ms. Curtis is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Mediation Society, the Association for Conflict Resolution of Northern California, and the California Dispute Resolution Council. She has served on the boards of the California Dispute Resolution Institute and the RockRose Institute, which she co-founded. She has also been involved with the Ethics and Reconciliation Council of the Zen Center of San Francisco and the John F. McFetridge American Inn of Court. Additionally, she has held leadership roles in the Bar Association of San Francisco's Mediation Committee, including co-chairing the committee, and has been a member of the California State Bar's ADR Standing Committee. Ms. Curtis is fluent in English and has taught mediation and negotiation seminars at Stanford Law School and Santa Clara University School of Law.
