About Dan
Dan McGuinness earned both his bachelor's degree and law degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He studied in a rigorous academic environment and finished his J.D. before moving west to practice law. The Michigan education gave him grounding in legal research and writing, and exposure to a wide range of legal subjects during law school.
Early in his professional life he became affiliated with the Colorado legal community. He holds membership in the Colorado State Bar and is admitted to practice in Colorado as well as in the Southern Ute Indian Tribal Court. Those admissions shape the settings where he practices and the rules that govern his courtroom work.
Most of his recorded experience is with Greenberg, McGuinness & Alt, LLC. At that firm he appears in state and tribal forums, preparing cases, handling filings, and advising clients on procedural and substantive matters that arise under Colorado and tribal law. His courtroom time and client counseling reflect steady practice in both tribunals rather than a narrow specialty.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation. He approaches factual investigation and document review in ways that aim to clarify the central issues for clients and for opposing counsel. In client meetings he emphasizes practical options and outlines likely next steps. That direct approach helps clients understand what to expect as matters proceed.
Outside court appearances, he handles the routine work that keeps cases moving: drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, and negotiating resolutions when possible. He also manages relationships with local agencies and court staff, a necessary part of effective practice in Colorado and tribal courts. He remains a current member of the Colorado State Bar and maintains active practice status in the jurisdictions listed.
McGuinness continues his practice at Greenberg, McGuinness & Alt, LLC, where he manages matters in Colorado and in the Southern Ute Indian Tribal Court. His current practice concentrates on litigation and courtroom representation in those jurisdictions.
