Dan Koukol is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1986. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Koukol is the founder and principal attorney at the Law Office of Dan Koukol, located in Auburn, California. He has been practicing law for over 40 years, serving clients throughout Northern California, particularly in the Sacramento and Placer County areas.
Mr. Koukol earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, graduating in 1984. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at California State University, Sacramento, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1980. During his time at McGeorge School of Law, he participated in the International Moot Court Honors program, honing his skills in legal research and oral advocacy.
Mr. Koukol concentrates his practice in criminal defense, representing individuals in matters involving DUI and DWI offenses, traffic tickets, and suspended license issues. He has experience handling cases at all stages of litigation, including hearings, trials, and appeals. His practice encompasses both state and federal courts, providing comprehensive defense strategies tailored to each client's needs.
Throughout his career, Mr. Koukol has held significant positions in the legal field. From 1987 to 2006, he served as the Chief Assistant Public Defender and Supervisor of the Felony Trial Team at the Placer County Public Defender’s Office. In 1994, he became a General Partner at Tauman and Koukol, which operated as the Placer County Public Defender’s Office until 2006. Since 1996, he has been a General Partner at The Placer Group, a firm specializing in criminal defense. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.
Mr. Koukol is an active member of several professional organizations, including the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, the Placer County Bar Association, the California Public Defender’s Association, and the California DUI Lawyers Association. He is fluent in English, allowing him to effectively serve the diverse communities of Northern California.
