About Damon
Damon Mathias trained in political science before turning to the law. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from Yeshiva University, then completed his legal studies at Southern Methodist University. Those classrooms set the stage for a practice shaped by courtroom work and civil litigation.
After law school he moved into litigation. Over the years he has taken cases through investigation, motion practice and trial. He has experience preparing records and arguing disputes in both state and federal settings. Colleagues describe a lawyer who invests time in case preparation and in testing legal theories early.
He is admitted to practice in Texas and Illinois and is also admitted to the Federal Circuit, the 9th Circuit and the 5th Circuit. That combination of state and federal admissions allows him to file and argue cases across multiple forums. He has handled matters at district and appellate levels when a case required escalation.
His practice concentrates on accident and injury matters. He represents clients in automobile collisions, workplace injuries and serious personal-injury claims. He also takes on cases that involve complex liability questions, such as those arising from defective products or multi-party disputes. He pursues damages for medical costs, lost income and long-term care when injuries produce lasting consequences.
In court he prepares witnesses and evidence for trial. He has taken depositions, drafted dispositive motions and presented oral arguments in hearings. When a case proceeds to trial he works to present a clear narrative to jurors and judges, and he attends to the practical details that shape trial readiness.
Outside the courtroom he manages case strategy and client communication. That includes coordinating with medical professionals, accident reconstruction experts and vocational specialists when their input is necessary. He aims to keep clients informed about case milestones and options for settlement or further litigation.
He is a member of Mathias Raphael PLLC Accident & Injury Lawyers and practices across the firm’s office locations. His caseload continues to center on accident and injury litigation, where he represents people pursuing recovery after serious harm.
