About Daisy
Daisy Chaparro took a straightforward path into law. She completed a B.A. in political science and philosophy at St. Mary’s University in 2012 and earned her J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2015. Those academic choices shaped a courtroom-minded practitioner who moved quickly from law student to working lawyer.
Her early legal experience began while she was still in school. In 2013 she served as a law clerk at Scherr Legate, PLLC, gaining hands-on exposure to trial preparation and client work. After graduating, she joined Scherr Legate as an associate in 2015. Within a year she shifted roles and, in 2016, became a partner at Tawney, Acosta & Chaparro, P.C. That rapid progression reflects steady involvement in litigation and case management rather than a career of turns and detours.
Chaparro is admitted to practice in New Mexico and Texas and is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. She has been listed as a member of the State Bar of New Mexico since 2016. Colleagues and peers know her through memberships in several professional groups. She belongs to the American Association for Justice, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association. She is also a member of local organizations such as the El Paso Young Lawyers Association, the El Paso County Trial Lawyers Association and the El Paso Women’s Bar Association. Her name appears on membership rolls for the National Order of Barristers as well.
Her work history emphasizes courtroom work and trial-level practice. As a partner at Tawney, Acosta & Chaparro, P.C., she took on responsibilities that include leading teams on litigation matters, overseeing case strategy and working directly with clients through the litigation process. The record of her positions — law clerk, associate, then partner — signals sustained involvement in civil litigation and trial practice.
Outside the courthouse she maintains ties to the local bar and trial lawyer communities. Those connections bring regular contact with fellow litigators and keep her engaged with continuing legal education and regional legal developments.
She practices at Tawney, Acosta & Chaparro, P.C., representing clients in New Mexico and Texas and in the Tenth Circuit. Her current practice focuses on litigation in those jurisdictions.
