About Craig Alexander
Craig Alexander Higginbotham built his legal foundation at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish in 2002. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law, finishing law school in 2007. Those academic years set the stage for a steady career in Texas practice.
After law school, Higginbotham entered private practice. Records show he served as Lawyer and Counselor at Law at the Law Office of J. Thomas Black beginning in 2010. That period gave him early courtroom exposure and client-facing experience. He handled day-to-day litigation tasks and the kind of client work that often shapes a lawyer’s practical judgment.
In 2021 he joined Byman & Associates, PLLC as a Lawyer and Counselor at Law. His move there marked a shift into a firm environment where he could work on a broader docket and coordinate with other attorneys. At Byman & Associates he has taken on matters that require both negotiation and formal advocacy.
Higginbotham holds board certification in Consumer Bankruptcy from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a certified mediator through the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center. These credentials reflect time spent in bankruptcy practice and in alternative dispute resolution settings. He is licensed to practice in Texas.
Colleagues and court filings show he spends significant time on consumer bankruptcy matters. He represents individuals in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases, appears at hearings, and negotiates with creditors and trustees. When cases can be resolved outside court, he uses mediation and negotiated settlements. His mediator credential allows him to handle those sessions from both sides of the table.
Outside of filings and hearings, Higginbotham’s work includes preparing petitions, drafting disclosure statements and conducting creditor communications. He blends courtroom work with settlement efforts and client counseling. He is currently at Byman & Associates, PLLC, where he practices consumer bankruptcy and related matters.
