About Corey E.
Corey E. Dunbar combined an engineering education and legal training at Tulane University. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2002, then stayed on for law school and received his J.D. in 2005. Those years at Tulane shaped both the technical and analytical sides of his work.
After law school he built a practice that spans state and federal courts. He is admitted to practice in Texas and Louisiana, and he holds admissions to the Federal Circuit as well as the 5th and 11th U.S. Courts of Appeals. Those credentials reflect a practice that regularly touches on federal appellate work and litigation that crosses state lines.
Dunbar has been active in bar organizations over the years. He served on the board of the Federal Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division in New Orleans from 2007 until 2016. He also served as president of the Plaquemines Parish Bar Association from 2013 to 2015. Colleagues recall him taking on administrative and organizational responsibilities in those roles and working to involve younger attorneys in local bar activities.
His background in electrical engineering and computer science informs how he approaches complex legal problems. That technical grounding helps him parse technical exhibits and work through expert testimony. It also shapes his written advocacy, where he often breaks complicated issues into discrete legal and factual components.
In court, Dunbar’s practice has involved appellate briefing and litigation in both federal and state venues. He has filed briefs in appellate courts and handled procedural and substantive issues that arise in multi-jurisdiction matters. He tends to work on cases that require detailed legal research, careful record review, and precise drafting.
Outside the courtroom, he has balanced bar leadership with client work. His years on the Federal Bar Association board overlapped with his bar activity at the parish level, giving him both local perspective and exposure to broader federal practice concerns. Those experiences informed how he manages client expectations and coordinates litigation teams.
He maintains an active practice in Texas and Louisiana, appearing in trial and appellate courts as needed. He currently concentrates his practice on federal appeals and civil litigation in Texas and Louisiana.
