About Colton
Colton Baker earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Tennessee Technological University in 2007 and a Juris Doctor from Nashville School of Law in 2012. His educational path combined classroom study and hands-on roles in youth services. That mix shaped the early arc of his career and later informed his choice to open his own practice.
He began working with youth and community programs soon after college. In 2002 he served as a peer mentor at Omni Vision. He later took a post as a probation officer at Blount County Juvenile Corrections in 2007. Those years in juvenile corrections exposed him to the mechanics of the local court system and daily realities faced by young people and their families. He moved into law support roles next, working as a legal runner for King & Ballow in Nashville in 2010 and then as a legal advisor and direct care staff at Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in 2012.
In 2014 he started his own firm, listed as D. Colton Baker, Lawyer at Law, and he serves as the managing lawyer. Running a small practice required switching from staff roles to case management, client intake, and courtroom preparation. His background in corrections and child welfare often informs how he evaluates cases and prepares clients for proceedings. He is a member of the Blount County Bar Association and handles matters across Tennessee.
Baker’s practice has been consistent in its local emphasis. He represents clients through his firm and handles matters that arise in Tennessee courts. He has balanced courtroom appearances with community-based work and an ongoing involvement in local bar activities. His current practice focuses on matters handled through his firm across Tennessee.
