About Clifton
Clifton Black began his academic journey in Colorado. He earned an A.A. from Pikes Peak Community College, then a B.S. from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He completed his legal education at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where he received his J.D. The sequence of degrees traces a steady progression from local undergraduate study to professional training out of state and back to practice in Colorado.
Black entered private practice in the mid-2000s. He first operated as Clifton Black, LLC starting in 2006. Over the following decade he expanded his practice and in 2018 worked as a lawyer at Black & Graham, LLC. He later established the Law Offices of Clifton Black, PC, where he serves as managing partner. His career shows a pattern of building and reshaping a solo and small-firm practice rather than joining large national firms.
Much of Black’s professional activity centers on criminal defense and trial work. That orientation is reflected by his memberships in several defense-oriented groups. He belongs to the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He also holds memberships in the Colorado Bar Association, the El Paso County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Those affiliations suggest regular involvement in courtroom litigation and peer networks that focus on trial practice.
Collegial ties and bar participation appear to be a recurring part of his professional life. He is currently the managing partner of the Law Offices of Clifton Black, PC and handles criminal defense and trial matters in Colorado.
