About Clifford
Clifford Freed is an attorney specializing in business law, employment law, arbitration and mediation, and civil rights. A member of the Washington State Bar Association since 1984, he has built a distinguished career over nearly four decades. For more than 30 years, Mr. Freed was a partner at Frank Freed Subit & Thomas LLP, a prominent law firm located in Seattle, Washington. Established in 1981, the firm is renowned for its representation of employees and labor unions in workplace disputes, making significant contributions to labor rights in the region. In January 2017, Mr.
Freed retired from active practice at the firm to focus on his mediation and arbitration services. This transition allowed him to leverage his experience in resolving disputes outside of traditional litigation. His expertise in this area is recognized; he has been recognized as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, an honor that supports his the field and his contributions to labor and employment law. Mr. Freed earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from Seattle University School of Law in 1984. During his time there, he served as Managing Editor of the Law Review, honing his legal writing and analytical skills.
Before pursuing his law degree, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Brooklyn College, which laid the foundation for his legal career. His educational background gave him a strong understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of law. Throughout his career, Mr. Freed has received numerous accolades for his work in the legal field. He has been acknowledged in "Best Lawyers in America" multiple times, evidence of his peers' respect and recognition of his expertise. Additionally, he has been named a "Washington Super Lawyer" by Washington Law & Politics Magazine, a distinction awarded to only a select group of attorneys in the state.
In 2013, he was honored as the Puget Sound Region "Lawyer of the Year" in Labor Law by Best Lawyers in America, further solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in labor law. In addition to his practice, Mr. Freed has contributed to legal education as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Seattle University School of Law. He has taught courses in Employment Law, Employment Discrimination, and Legal Writing, sharing his knowledge and experience with the next generation of legal professionals.
