About Christopher

Christopher Tolley studied history and the liberal arts at Bowdoin College, where he earned a B.A. in 1981. He went on to law school at Suffolk University, receiving his J.D. in 1986. Those years laid the groundwork for a career that has combined municipal involvement and property law practice.

Tolley spent years working at the intersection of local government and private property interests. He served on the Town of Acton Planning Board and rose to chair the board, a role that placed him in the center of zoning debates, subdivision reviews and community planning decisions. He has also held a seat on the Board of Governors for the Mill Corner Condominium Association, where he has dealt with the governance issues that face condominium communities.

His professional affiliations include membership in the American Bar Association and the Real Estate Bar Association. He also maintains a long-running membership in a professional organization dating back to 1986. Tolley is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Colleagues describe him as steady and pragmatic. He has applied his municipal and association experience to advising clients on real estate transactions, condominium governance and land-use matters. That work has required drafting and reviewing condominium bylaws, advising boards on fiduciary duties and representing clients in administrative hearings and planning board proceedings. He has navigated the technical details of property records and the procedural rules that govern local land-use boards.

Tolley keeps a local orientation to his work. He remains involved in community planning issues and continues to serve on association boards when asked. He divides his time between advising property owners, condominium boards and municipal entities. He currently handles real estate and land-use matters.
