About Christopher
Christopher Toepp built his path to the law through a mix of liberal arts study and focused legal training. He earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College in 2004 after spending time at Oxford University in 2003. He completed his J.D. at William & Mary Marshall-Wythe School of Law in 2007.
Early in his career Toepp worked in roles that combined research and courtroom exposure. In 2005 he served as a research assistant at the United States Lawyer's Office in Syracuse, and the following year he held a clerk position with the United States Lawyer's Office in Las Vegas. Those early posts preceded a move into public service in Virginia. In 2008 he joined the Office of the Commonwealth's Lawyer in Richmond as an Assistant Commonwealth's Lawyer, where he gained experience on the prosecution side of the docket.
Toepp moved into private practice in 2012 when he joined Allen, Allen, Allen and Allen, P.C. Over the next decade he advanced within the firm and was elevated to shareholder in 2022. He works out of the Fredericksburg office and has handled matters arising from both his public-sector background and private practice assignments.
He remains active in the legal community. His memberships include the Richmond Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association and the Dartmouth Lawyers Association. He also participates in the Lewis Powell American Inn of Court. Those affiliations reflect ongoing ties to both local bar groups and networks that emphasize courtroom skills and professional standards.
Colleagues and clients have noted Toepp’s attention to case preparation and his preference for hands-on work in litigation. His early research assignments and clerkship experience inform the way he approaches discovery and motion practice. Time spent in the Commonwealth’s office provided exposure to courtroom procedure on the prosecution side, and his years in private practice have kept him engaged in the adversary process.
Toepp balances court time with office work and occasional appellate filings, tending to the technical and strategic aspects of cases himself. He is known in his firm for taking on complex procedural issues and for guiding files through trial preparation. Outside litigation he contributes to firm discussions about case strategy and mentoring junior lawyers.
He practices at the Fredericksburg office of Allen & Allen and focuses his work on litigation and trial matters at that office.
