About Christopher M.

Christopher M. Larson earned his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 2010 after completing an undergraduate program at the University of Washington School of Business in 2003. His bachelor’s study combined accounting, finance and informations systems. He returned to the UW campus several years later to attend law school, carrying a background in numbers and business into his legal studies.

Larson began his professional career outside the law. In 2004 he worked as a senior accountant for Johnson Industries International, Inc. That role put him on the front lines of financial reporting and corporate accounting. The experience provided practical exposure to corporate books, internal controls and the kinds of transactional problems that later surfaced in client matters.

While in law school he volunteered at the University of Washington Federal Tax Clinic in 2009. The clinic work involved direct interaction with taxpayers and the federal tax system. He graduated with a J.D. in 2010 and entered private practice the following year. Since 2011 Larson has been associated with Insight Law, where he has worked on matters that reflect his combined accounting and legal background.

Larson is licensed to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and the U.S. Tax Court, and he is authorized to practice in the state of Washington. He maintains memberships in the Washington State Bar Association as well as the King County, Pierce County and Snohomish County bar associations. Those memberships keep him connected to local court procedures and the professional networks in the Puget Sound region.

Clients and colleagues describe Larson as pragmatic. He approaches problems through an accountant’s lens and a lawyer’s toolkit. That means attention to records, timelines and regulatory detail. His experience in a federal tax clinic and an admission to the U.S. Tax Court inform how he handles disputes involving tax assessments, reporting questions and negotiations with government counsel.

He currently practices at Insight Law, handling tax controversy, business-related disputes and matters that require an understanding of both accounting and legal standards.
