About Christopher M

Christopher M Kennedy has practiced law in Illinois for more than three decades. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1986 and received his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 1991. Those academic steps led to admissions across multiple federal and state courts, milestones that shaped a career spent largely in the Lake County area and the broader Chicago region.

His first public role came as a prosecutor. In 1994 he joined the Lake County State's Attorney's Office. That early experience put him in court regularly and offered front-line exposure to criminal practice and trial procedure. By the late 1990s he shifted into private practice, taking on a broader mix of civil and criminal matters in a small office setting.

In 2004 he became a partner at Kennedy Pierson & Strachan, LLP. That role expanded the scale of his practice and involved more complex litigation and client counseling. He later established the Law Office of Christopher M. Kennedy, P.C., where he handles matters from his own office. Over the years he has maintained admission to the Illinois Supreme Court and the trial bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, both effective in 1994.

Federal admissions followed later. He was admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in 2005 and to the United States Supreme Court in 2008. Those credentials allow him to argue at multiple levels of the federal system and to manage appeals when they become necessary. He is also an active member of local and state bar groups, including the Lake County Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and methodical in preparation. He has combined public-service experience as a prosecutor with decades of private-practice work. That combination informs his approach to both trial work and pretrial strategy.

He continues to operate the Law Office of Christopher M. Kennedy, P.C. in Illinois. His practice concentrates on litigation and trial work in state and federal courts, including appellate matters when appropriate.
